Some might call it marketing. Others might call it fraud. Tripping Falls resident Kyle Leach calls it a “rustic getaway in the Rockies.” Whatever you call it, this unique Airbnb listing has gotten the attention of local news media, adventurous travelers, and unfortunately, a few lawyers.
Cowardly Travelers Need Not Apply
Visitor Karl Schultz left the following review on the Airbnb website:
“To call this beaten-down cabin from before the Gold Rush ‘rustic’ is an insult to terrible, overpriced Airbnb cabins everywhere. When I spend hundreds of dollars for a night away, I need something Instagrammable from at least one angle. The pics I got were barely suitable for Facebook. 3 Stars (breakfast was surprisingly good).”
Located just a mile outside the hustle-and-bustle of Tripping Falls, this cabin is on several acres of multi-purpose land with goats, llamas, chickens and a small organic kombucha operation.
Dinner and a Show
“Where else can you watch goats play with chickens, and pet a real-live llama? Tripping Falls is a utopia,” said owner Kyle Leach. “Airbnb said I was allowed to use the word ‘rustic,’ but I also had to modify my listing to add a disclaimer that helps ensure visitors are up-to-date on their tetanus and rabies shots. But not everyone wants to stay at a cookie-cutter hotel with four walls and a bathroom.”
The 250 square-foot structure includes a bench, shelves, a gun rack, blankets, hay-stuffed pillow cases, wi-fi, and a light ring for selfies. Since the Lodge at Tripping Falls is almost always booked to capacity, visit Airbnb to schedule a visit.
