OUTDOOR ATTRACTIONS

SO, YOU'RE THINKING ABOUT TAKING A TRIP

Secluded is an understatement about Tripping Falls’ location. With the Lodge booked out for the foreseeable future, we tend to get all the visitors we can handle. But that shouldn’t stop you from taking the trek through jackalope country. Be sure to read our FAQs and Trip Tips before heading out.

FEATURED ATTRACTION: TRIPPING FALLS

Tripping Falls, the town, was — in a roundabout way — founded by a ghost. Read more about the Town’s unique history here.

Aptly named for the near-life-ending fall that led to its accidental discovery, the falls themselves are small. They’re pretty, though and for decades have inspired people to risk it all just to catch a glimpse of the inexplicable charm that hangs over the region.

If you can’t actually visit, the next best thing is to rep the town through merchandise. Beautiful, thoughtful merchandise that will perhaps make you the envy of your friends. And when you do Trip the Falls, be sure to take a picture and use the hashtag #TrippingFalls for a chance at discounts and prizes! Play the game.

TRIP THE FALLS IN STYLE

Encampment River Fishing

RECREATION - OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES

The Encampment River forks near the Colorado-Wyoming border. The West Fork of that river makes much of Tripping Falls agriculture possible — and creates the town Falls.

The temperature swings that occur between the warm days and cool nights make ideal conditions for fish and produce. Public access is limited (as with everything in Tripping Falls) but it’s one of the best spots for fly fishing in the country.

Bring some fly lines, leaders, tippets and a camera with you, or just find a nice spot to listen to the sounds of the peaceful water as it muffles the shrieks of a very active Screaming Toad population.

Goat Yoga at the Falls

RECREATION - OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES

It’s as weird and as fun as it sounds. Goats love standing on top of things. We don’t know why, they just do. It’s a great way to test how flat your plank pose is.

In the summer, hot goat yoga is done in nearby caves (some of which we’ve come to realize emit toxic gas — our bad) but most of the time you can strike your downward-dog pose in the presence of goats right near Tripping Falls itself. Naa’aamaste as the goats say.
