“It’s easy to forget,” says resident and restauranteur Dave Yeti. “But we’re still surrounded on all sides by an ocean of crushing reality.”Â
As the state begins to come back to life after the lift of COVID-related restrictions, Tripping Falls residents were ecstatic to come out of hibernation and join the rest of Colorado in getting “back to normal.”Â
And then they remembered something: The rest of Colorado kind of blows.Â
“Between the transplants fighting with the natives, the Millennials fighting with the Boomers, the ski people fighting with snowboarders, and the traffic of a state with 10x the population, we remembered why we moved to Tripping Falls in the first place,” said Yeti.
Like it or not, the residents of Tripping Falls will soon be swarmed by tourists longing for the summer events season that they missed out on last year.Â
“We don’t mind people coming here — we love visitors,” said Yeti. “It’s just that I would rather go mine coal in the toxic caves outside of Steamboat than take another trip to the city.”Â
Some residents were already struggling with the CDC’s lax new mask guidelines, but for the most part, Tripping Fallers are looking forward to having events again.Â
The next event is coming soon: Be sure to get tickets to the The Taxidermy Toss as many more have been released to meet the surging demand and newly lifted restrictions.Â
